Arrest Records in Union County

Union County Sheriff's Office deputies, La Grande Police Department officers, and Oregon State Police troopers are the main local arresting agencies. Community Corrections may also lodge a person on a supervision hold. Deputies provide law enforcement for incorporated communities without their own police departments, including Elgin and Union. The agency that made the arrest owns the incident narrative. The Union County Correctional Facility, or UCCF, owns the intake and custody record after a person is booked.

Those files are related but not interchangeable. An officer's report records the alleged conduct, place, witnesses, and probable cause. The jail record covers identity processing, intake, listed charges, bail or holds, and release or transfer. Fingerprint-supported events may flow to Oregon State Police Criminal Justice Information Services. If the district attorney files a charge, the circuit court creates another record. Union County Correctional Facility Bookings

The Union County Correctional Facility is the county booking point at 1109 K Avenue in La Grande. Its staff receives people arrested by several agencies, assigns an inmate number, records the arrest time and source, and tracks custody. The fact that a person is housed there does not mean UCSO wrote the arrest report.

Union County Arrest Lookups

For a dispatch trail, LGPD can provide a CAD call screen or 911 audio. A call screen merely logs contact with dispatch; it does not prove that an officer wrote a report or made an arrest.

UCSO Jail Record Request Choices

The UCSO public-records channel accepts requests by email, mail, fax, or delivery. Identify the person, inmate number, arrest date, and record type. A jail record costs $10 through ten pages and $15 at 11 pages or more. Case reports cost $10 for the first five pages plus 25 cents for each later page. Search, production, and redaction time is $35 per hour after the first 15 free minutes, with a half-hour minimum once charged.

Arrest Records: What They Contain

The public roster exposes a narrow set of fields. A requested booking file or agency report may contain more, subject to Oregon disclosure limits and redaction. Read each field as an administrative entry, not a judicial finding.

Three Union County Arrest Channels

Follow the agency label. UCSO handles county patrol and sheriff investigations. LGPD handles its city police reports. OSP Central Records handles state-police enforcement records, even when a trooper books someone at UCCF.

Physical custody does not transfer report ownership. This distinction is vital for arrests made in Elgin or Union, where sheriff coverage may produce a UCSO report, and for highway arrests made by OSP.

Recent Union County Bookings

The roster PDF is Union County's closest official recent-booking publication. No separate searchable daily arrest archive or historical blotter was found. Its rows show a name, inmate number, arrest date and time, arrest agency, charge or statute, and displayed bond. It does not publish booking photos.

Union County Booking Photo Limits

Oregon does not treat booking photos as routine public releases. ORS 133.870 generally bars a law-enforcement agency from releasing one. Exceptions include release to the depicted person, law-enforcement use, or a public release tied to a stated law-enforcement purpose such as identifying or apprehending a suspect.

The roster's lack of photographs fits that rule. Use the booking number, agency, and court case to verify a record instead of expecting a mugshot gallery.

La Grande Arrest Reports

For an LGPD arrest, request the officer's report from the city's Records Section. The office accepts in-person, mail, email, and fax requests and generally estimates 7 to 21 days. Give the address or street, date range, parties, and case number if known. The city assesses requests before payment and may charge $35 per hour for search and production, with work under 15 minutes free.

The official La Grande records page is distinct from dispatch and from UCCF. Calling 911 or the communications center does not order a report. The city record explains the police event; the county jail record explains intake.

Arrest Records vs Conviction Records

An arrest shows that an agency took a person into custody or imposed actual or constructive restraint to charge an offense. It does not establish guilt. Prosecutors may file different counts, decline a case, or dismiss a charge. The Union County Circuit Court judgment is the better source for the final outcome.
